Breaks went out

Post by james lemmon »

I have disc breaks and I've had a little leak on the master cylinder for some time. I would just top it off before we would take the buggy out. well today the breaks went out, the break peddle has no pressure in it. what should I do and look for. The master cylinder was dried out so I filled it back up and pumped the breaks, but still no pressure. Can someone help me out before I have to take it to this shop thats already done me wrong.

Sounds like its time for a new master,,,Why would you bring it to a shop that has screwed you before ??,There has to be other shops that can work on a Bug !!!!,,,If you can bleed brakes,,You can replace a master you self..

Where is the leak at your master cylinder? Is it where the lines enter housing? Are they tight enough? Are the ends of the lines and the fittings compatable? ie: bubble flare vs. double flare? Filling the master back up with fluid once it goes dry won't get you a firm brake pedal until you get the air out of the system. You'll most definately need to start bleeding at the master cylinder then work your way around to the wheel cylinders. Do you feel comfortable doing this yourself? I can help if you need it. Send me a PM if you want and I can guide you through it.
