Buggy Trailer options????
Buggy Trailer options????
After some shopping for a suitable trailer for my car, I have decided to fab up one myself. I have an idea of how I am going to build it but wanted to see what you guys already have. Maybe with some pics I can get more ideas. Any words of wisdom? What would you do if you were going to have one built???
I am planning on going to the TEXAS BUGGY BLAST in June. Five hundred fifty miles one way is a long way for a madien journey. Right???? Don't get me wrong my car will be driven almost everywhere. I installed a 3.88 tranny and have small cam just for that reason. I have collecting parts for this project for four years, trust me when it is done it will be driven and HARD. MURZ

Outer Banks!
whats the reason for the trailer? i just have a towbar and it has worked out well. and you can't beat it for the price ($50 new). i've been between west virginia and pennsylvania and plan on going from pa to the outer banks that way this summer. is that not a good idea?
Okay, This needs to be an Offical East Coast Manx trip to the Outer Banks. There are enough guys on this side to pull off a meet and the Outer banks would be THE place in my book. We just can't tell them we are coming. The chamber of commerce told me no thanks when I emailed them 2 years ago about trying to get about 25 dune buggies together down there. This time we are just a car club. :driving: Anyone else interested???? John

I know guy who makes really nice piggy-back racks for truck beds that easily hold a buggy (he carted mine 1800 miles without issue). ... but uhh... a car is something completely different. I'm of no use to you.
This would make more work for actually hauling a car but it is something to think about......What if you just built a dolly trailer to just drive the front wheels up on like a uhaul, then you could just take your axles loose when going on a long trip, or just leave it in neutral if you dare.....It would cut cost of building supplies down and would be easier to build. Just a thought.
If you build your own trailer, spend the extra money for a new axel with brakes. With a tow bar all you have is 1,500 pounds trying to "ass-steer " your tow vehicle when you slam on the brakes. I have had too many white knuckle rides towing without brakes. Another advantage to a trailer is that you can drive your buggy like a lunatic and not worry about how to get it home when you break or bend a trailing arm, or snap off something important while doing a Duke Boy jump..YeeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!!
