Looking throught The Samba classifieds I'm noticing more and more buggies are listed as Manxes. Long, short, whatever then I see this one. I encourage anyone looking for a Manx to ask a lot of questions here before they buy.

It looks to be a real nice buggy. Here's the add. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... ?id=238269
It looks to me that IF the car hooked up coming off the line, the oil filter and the wheelie bar would fight for the same space.
As far as advertising as a Manx is concerned. Most people don't know the difference but they do know the name Manx is more desireable and will consequently sell for more money. When/if he ends up selling it I would bet it's to someone that actually thinks it's a Manx.
I had to email him and ask him if it was infact an authenticated Manx. I had to know what he would say. Here is what he said. If its not cracking its good as a Meyers Manx!
Maybe some customizing was done coming out of the mold that day. Im sure with all the fiberglass experience that bruce has, not to mention imagination, it could have come from his shop. If we were talking about the U.S. Mint, that would make it an even more valuable collectors item. Only Bruce knows for sure.

Its just fiberglass, and when it comes to fiberglass buggies, Bruce will always be the Grandfather. Who knows maybe he got bored one day and customized the hood. He has the ability and the imagination, only Bruce knows for sure. Besides the building of the buggy is what makes it special, it is an extension of your personality. The value is in the quality and pride put in the buggy, thats why I will never sell mine...... John member #1024
Bruce has stated that ALL Manx buggys have a smooth hood and that there have never been any ridges, scoops, etc. The buggy supposedly has a gelcoat finish which means the hood was popped from a mold with the ridge in it. It was not an afterthought. With the little time I have spent with Bruce, I don't think he is ever bored.
The fact that it is not a Manx, does not take away from the fact that the buggy is very nicely done.
