Flush Gas Cap Question

Post by StanLove »

Could use some help, I would like to put a flush gas cap assembly on my signature manx. Im about to have my tank configured to Bruces specs. (Center and cut down to 2" per directions.) Would that still be the case for a flush cap assembly. I would like to put in a 9 bolt aircraft-style cap from McKenzies (Anaheim, CA). Im worried about distance from tank to hood. If anyone has done this I would greatly appreciate some direction. I have seen them on other Manx and they look great. Any pros or Cons would help. Thanks for your time Stan stanluv@aol.com

Stan, Been there. I ended up using the Texas Manx tank that was pre welded with a bung and kept the original sender mounting hole. I needed a new tank and the price was pretty reasonable. I installed everything first and then took my measurements which included scribing a line from underneath (it can be reached) and drilling a pilot hole to start the process. I still needed to install 2" of fuel resistant radiator hose from the bung to the filler. Any slight mis measurments can be taken care of here. One other thing, when fitting the hood, be prepared to have to smash the passenger front corner of your gas tank to make the hood fit without damage to the gel coat. Do a search as we fully covered this when I went through it. EDIT: Here is that explanation http://www.meyersmanx.com/forums/showth ... light=bash Let's see some pictures of the project This is my 333rd post for #33.

From Mc Kensies. Be prepared though they are a bit pricey.

http://www.mckenzies.com In a simple search, I couldn't find the door but I know it is in there catalog. I think it was $195 with the lock and $175 without.

Go to Google Images, type in "fuel fillers" then you can click on the one you like and find out where to get it.
