No need to remove the hood or cut/drill any fiberglass at all. In fact, since the shift rod is 14 inches shorter, it doesn't reach the front of the car anyway. I used a loop of the wire (or twine or whatever works, somethign @10 r 12 gauge so it doesn't break) to support the shift rod inside the shifter mount hole. I used a longer peice attached to the shifter using the hole for the rear coupler. That was mostly so I could pull it back through the hanger/bushing. To move it forward you can use numble fingers and/or a pair of needle nose (pliers or vice grips...just don't nick up the rod.) You can then either put the bushing in the hanger and work the rod back through or put the bushing around the shift rod and start working it back through by pulling on the cable you so wisely previously attached to the back end. It can be a hard pull on the rear cable but if you have it supported in on the front end of the shift rod, it actually works through pretty easy. Once it's in, make sure the bushing snapped into place. Oh, be sure to put the cup facing down otherwise it hangs up on mosteverything as you move it to the front of the car and the again when you move it back.

GregR, Thank you for the info. I might actually try to put the bushing in (with some moral support). Thanks, Bud
