Berrien Rolling
Thanks Guys Tom Kathleen, I'm not sure about the weight. I was told it weighs 200lbs. when I asked about shipping. Two people can carry it, but you wouldn't want to go too far. A friend and I carried it about 200' and we were ready to put it down. That's without front end or trailing arms and with torsion bars and spring plates. Don't know how much original chassis wieghs, but would guess this is a little lighter and much more rigid.
Thanks Mvovr, nothing personal, but hopefully I won't be hitching a ride with you, thanks for the offer though. It's much more fun to drive. Last time over there I couldn't believe how many rattles and squeeks my buggy had. I have gone to great lengths on this to eliminate as many as I can. Now those side pods are going to need some anti-rattle work.

Thanks for the weight information. I will talk to Berrien for some real numbers. I have been thinking about changing the suspension under my Fiber Fab to "non VW" and was thinking this would be an eisier place to start. It would be a bonus if it was lighter. Tom

That looks FANTASTIC!!!!! I've got an earlier Berrien chassis, the front tubes are a little different, that I haven't touched yet but was wondering what you guys are doing to title these. Since there are no chassis numbers with the torsion housing, are you getting a state issued number, are you using the numbers off of the old bug chassis assuming you replaced an old chassis? I don't think its a big deal here in Colorado even if I have to get a state issued number, just wondering how everyone else is handling it. Jay
Beautiful Paint
Chuck , Thanks for posting the photos of your chassis - the paint looks like chrome its so shiny . Really like the wheels .

Jay
Since the fiberglass floor that Berrien provides looks identical to the VW pan I cut an oval slot in the glass in the same location of the stock vin and glassed the vin in from the bottom. It looks like it came that way.
Jay, If you look at my pictures you will see a bracket behind the e-brake bracket where the original VW VIN is. My VW VIN will be put on there and there will be a nice slot cut in the fiberglass to view it. It also fits up tight against the floor pan. Thanks Tom, No comparison to your project, but this one will see the woods. The wheels were a $30.00 back yard find. Here is a picture after I started working on one of them. $30.00 for the wheels and $40.something for the center caps.

Great job...how long did it take?
Jerry I'll get back to you on that. Polishing the wheels was a learning experience. Depending on what shape they are in start sanding them with however coarse grit you need to get the scratches out. Then work to finer grit. I worked these up to a 1500 grit wet sanding. After that the polishing is a piece of cake. I used Mothers polish and a rag for final polish. Just like paint work, it's all in the prep work. They could still use a little work, maybe later. I worked on these after work for an hour or so a night for a couple weeks. Sat in a chair in the back yard wet sanding. Everyone tells me you can have them done for $25.00 a piece, I would pay that, but the prices I was getting around here were like $80.00 a piece.
dirtydeedss, I will post pics of the body mounted when it get's mounted.
