Bob Kornoffs Buggy Build

Heres some pictures of Kornoffs buggy build. Bob brought it over to my house for the electrical part. He had just got it painted by Paul McCain, the same guy who does our tshirts. After two weeks and two transmissions we finally got it running. Bob had the cage put in after this. My son in law Eric applied the decal after getting permission from Bruce and Winnie.

That is one good looking buggy, though I think I like it better without the cage.

I'd like to know where Bob got that "bitchen" steering column plate on the firewall? Is that something that Meyers sells or is that a custom piece? That is one nice looking buggy...

Gary, That "Bitchin steering column boot" is ................................A shifter boot from summit racing.

Here are a few pictures when the project started.
In the begining.........

The torsion tube was bent beyond repair on this 1960 pan.

This is a Dave Barrett Condor chassis. It has a built in 2 1/2in suspension lift and a 2in body lift.
The work begins.

Working on a moveable table sure helps. Not having to bend over was nice.

Working on steering. The body lift meant I had to use two universal joints to keep the steering wheel
away from the windshield.

New drop down dash insert.

Mounting seats.

I had to use a cherry picker to get it off the table.

It was a fun project that lasted about 18 months but I don't want to do another one for awhile. I had a lot of help with parts and the body work. Friends were a valuable help.

Hi Bob,

I was wondering how you did the Manx graphic on the hood? I found a Hot Wheels car with a similar logo and I am thinking of doing the same to my Manx. I like the way this is done, minus the flames, with the silver outline and black background but I was thinking of maybe flat black. The Hot Wheels is even the right color since my wife wants the buggy painted purple.

You can get the graphic from Winnie. In the pictures above shows how to apply it, don't forget to wet the surface first so you can center it then gently squeggly gently. Not hard at all.

I really like the look and a friend of mine is going to do it also.

Hey Bob,

Did you use stock boxed trailing arms on your buggy? I am thinking of going ahead and converting the Manx to a Bus IRS.

I used stock trailing arms, no mods of any kind.
