I ve been through a ground up VW project before with my baja bug, which has over $21k into it, not including the initial cost. I learned my lesson me thinks. My manx type buggy has maybe $500 in upgrades on top of the $2k purchase price. Im keeping this buggy simple and low cost........I hope.

I also used Rewarder headers, for the exhaust on my baja. Great finish, and has lasted many years.

On one buggy I saw, the owner used raised spindles, bought from an advertiser in Hot VW's. I think it raised it 3 inches, which doesnt affect the ride. Not sure what he did to the rear suspension.

My uncle has a Tow'd that was sitting in the weeds for at least 20 years. It was in terrible shape, and had water in the engine, presumably from the rain. 2 years ago, I got it running for him, and went through it making it drivable again.
