Saw this at BugaRama, a Baja with a 2.2L Subaru engine that had a 2barrel carb adapted to the stock manifold and using some kind of Ford distributor driven of the front of the left side camshaft.
Owner said he did his own work converting it.
Looks to be another way to install a Subaru without having to use fuel injection or crank fired ignition.
There also was a Bug there with dual Weber IDF on a Subaru engine and using the crank fired ignition. Did not get any pictures of it.

That is different.  I had joked with Kathleen before she bought the fuel injected engine from Outfront, that we could cut a hole in the top of the intake manifold , weld on a flange and put a small 4 barrel carb on it and avoid some of the possible electronic problems.  We are much better off with the fuel injection.  Tom

Not knowing how it really worked, I had to rely on what owner was telling me.

I don't think I would do what he has done, I sure someone that sees it will have a idea to make something better for themself.

I just notice something I did not realize before. The water crossover that bolts to the top under the intake manifold has been reverse. From what I have been told this is a NO-NO as water pump outlet and return hose are now on same side of engine which create hot spots in the left side of engine.
