[font=Times New Roman]Does anyone know of a site that list the different Transaxle Options (Type 1, Type 2/4, 3/5/6 Rib) and the advantages and disadvantages? What it takes to put them into a late or early IRS pan. Needing more info on IRS type application but I am sure people would be interested in the Swing axle type also. Getting the parts together for the build and will be using the stock beetle Trans with the Pan for now but would like to know my choices.

You'll probably get a lot of opinions on the advantages/disadvantages, so I'll just point you to the following...
Gear Ratios Needless to say, that selecting the correct gearing is dependent on engine size (HP), rear tire size, desired speeds in each gear, etc. Here's another site I've enjoyed reading and gathering info from.
Trans Talk There are lots of questions to ask and get answers for. Many opinions out there, seperating those from fact is interesting.

Hey Mickey, My buggy came with a 1500 sp and a two side cover early IRS transmission. I changed my engine and transmission at the same time to a 1600dp and a late model single side cover trans. The buggy seemed to pull just as hard with the earlier (lower geared) trans and the 1500 as it did with the 1600 and higher geared trans. I was greatly dissapointed. The new setup allows me stay in any given gear a lot longer (to a higher speed). I used the
Gear Calculator at CB performance. I plugged in the ratios from the site that Allen has recommended along with my tire size. It appears that in any given gear there is only about 2 or 3 MPH difference at any given RPM. That sounds like very little to me. However, I am getting ready to change the frame over on my buggy so I am going to try the early trans with the 1600. I will post my results. I'm hoping that it will make a difference. BTW the 1600 is a much feistier engine. Maybe I was expecting too much. Please post your findings.
