Quick question before I get too involved stripping my 67 bugs. Will a link pin bean fit on a bulkhead that I took a ball joint beam off of? Specifically, 1967 pans... 59-63 linkpin beams. Thanks

Nope. The reason is that a ball joint front beam is about 8" form tube to tube and a linkpin beam is about 6 1/2" from tube to tube. There are ways of modifying the ball joint frame head to accept a LP beam but they are very time consuming. If you want you can also but a linkpin frame head out of hot VW for about 70 bucks. So you cut you old one off and weld the new one on. Or you can tie it into your pan and cage (if you have one) with tubing as well. Just some ideas. Thought it would be a little more helpful than just no.

OK then... The 67 frames I have with the ball joint beam have rusted thru shock towers. I have heard these can be replaced. anyone have a source?

you can get one from a local just yard, ebay, or i'm sure some one sells them online. Also just look around in hot VW. Question are you going to be using this for mostly street or are you going to be using it off road a lot?

I've made my own shock towers, But if the towers have rust holes. Here's a what you may find when you cut the old towers off. The water has been trapped inside the tower for years and laying on the beam tube. Often that part of the tube will be eaten over half way trough. making it very thin and this area is right between the bearings for the arms. It's up to you whether or not to use the beam I have , but only after doing some major gusetting
