Well, I finally got the old buggy running & the DMV straightened out but before I get on the road I need to get it insured. State Farm (my insurance co for my regular ride) isn't interested in dual sport cars. I would like some input/recommendations from fellow Californians. Thanks for the help!

and if they aren't interested in your ride maybe you should lose your interest in them. annoys me that a company will pick and choose like that. after all, its registered, inspected, etc. so why don't they have a problem with motorcycles- or even moreso- mopeds and those lame-ass scooters!

It always amazes me that the insurance companys will insure a 19 year old on a Suzuki Hyabusa motorcycle that will top out at 190mph on 2 wheels then tell you that the dune buggy is unsafe.

I'd tell them that if they won't insure your buggy that you will "Hawk yourself up and down Main Street," until you get a better deal and then cancel your current policies. Apropos, Main Street. Here in Oz the main street of country towns is usually called High Street, so when I was in the US a few years ago I drove down as many Main Streets as I found as I have always wanted to experience "Main Street USA".

Mine is insured as a 1963 Volkswagen Manx. So far, so good.

Mine is insured with State Farm a "Meyers Manx Kit Car". They have the pics and there seems to be no problem.
