As Joe has said...Announcement: Mail-in registration is now open for the Manx On The Banx 2013 (MOTB) and will be available until 30 September. Walk-up registration will be available at the event. Since the MOTB event is sanctioned by the Manx Club, you must be a member to attend. Membership information is available on the MOTB or Manx Club website or you may join the Manx Club at the event.
You will find the MOTB registration form (in .pdf format) available on the MOTB website. Please note, unlike previous years there is a discounted rate available for early registrations. To take advantage of the discount your forms must be post-marked by 7 Sep. 2013.
Additional information about the MOTB and a “special project” related to the MOTB will be posted on the website over the next few weeks. Additionally, event shirts will be available soon.

Time is ticking by and I am looking forward to seeing you all here soon.
With that said we are in the process of firming/confirming things that need a head count. (ball park would be helpful) At this point we have very few registrations and will have difficulty finalizing arrangements. So if you know you are coming go to the website, download the form and sent it in to Bud. You will save a few bucks the sooner you do it.
For those looking for a place to stay:
http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/north-carolina/coastal/outer-banks
This is a link to Vacation Rentals by Owner and in the "Off Season" you should be able to find some good deals. Since all have a kitchen you may save over a hotel since you will not have to eat out every day.
You want to stay in Nags Head, South Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, or Kitty Hawk in that order. Most of the events are in the Nags Head area.
The farther from the ocean, the lower the cost and since we are going to be out driving, the ocean is not as important as it might be during a Summer vacation. Try to stay "between the highways" (rt 12 - rt 158), ocean side or on the west side of the bypass (rt 158). These will lower your cost considerably. Get together with another group or family and you will save even more.
Since most of these VROB rentals are directly through the owners themselves you may be able to talk them down a bit. It can't hurt to ask. It also in most cases skips the Realty company and there 10-17% cut.
Hopefully this will help with those trying to get a place to stay or see if they can fit it into their budget. Those of you who have already booked a place please send in your registrations.

We have a new exciting development!!
We are going to have our "Blindfold Derby" here:
Winnie had mentioned last year that they have done some fun games at previous gatherings and said it might be fun for our event. So we decided to try the blind fold derby this year. (more about that when you get here)
We were thinking about doing it in a big parking lot with some cones. In comes Chris who vacations here on the OBX and while he was here he stopped at Digger's Dungeon and talked to Adam Anderson about us doing something at their facility. Unfortunately Adam and his brother will be in Australia during our event. But this gave us a way in. Paul came down last week and on his way he stopped by on Friday and was told that Dennis Anderson (the man himself) would be there Saturday signing autographs and might be able to help us out. Unfortunately I had Paul with me helping to clean pools (my day job) and he/we could not get back to talk to Dennis. In comes Scott who took the time to go over and speak to Dennis about our event. Dennis was thrilled to have some buggies at his place. Scott and I went over yesterday and sealed the deal to use his field for free. Dennis is a great down to earth guy and spent almost 2 hours taking us around his property showing us all his shops and fabricating facilities. We were smiling ear to ear when we left!!
Due to Dennis's schedule we will have to be there on Tuesday 10/15. So you may want to come a day or 2 earlier to join in the fun.
Special thanks go out to Chris South for getting us in the door, Paul Mabin for keeping it open and Scott Jackel for helping to seal the deal. This event is definitely a TEAM effort!
It should be a great time. Family members who are not driving or when we are not driving we can check out his place including a Diner on the premisses for meals while we are there.
Dennis said that if he has a truck there he will bring it out into the field and we can "fan" the buggies around it for a great picture.
Get those buggies ready for the fun!!!
Looking forward to seeing all of you here soon!!!

Bud wanted me to let people know that the new schedule is on the website. www.manxonthebanx.com .
I wanted to remind everyone that our schedule is very fluid. This is due to weather, honored guests coming in from out of town and venue issues that are out of our control. ANY printed schedule is subject to change and should be used as a guideline not absolute written in stone.
We have our morning gathering at the rally point and go over that day's schedule then. We had a venue change to accommodate Bruce's condition last year and we had gripes from some people.
Also just because you go to the rally point does not mean that you have to go on that day's planned activity. You can go off by yourself or in a group and do your own thing. There are many neat things/activities to enjoy that we do not have time to cover. You will not offend anyone if you do your own thing. (safely and within the road/beach rules here) I did want to add that coming to the rally point gives us an idea of how many people will be on the run/activity and gives us the ability to plan meals accordingly.
We will update the website as soon as we know of a change. If you do not have computer access you can come to the rally point and find out what is going on that day or call Bud or myself and find out. Keep in mind that we will most likely be driving a buggy when you call and may not be able to communicate clearly, so best way is to show up at the rally point.
