I believe he is in the Kill Devil Hills area, which is just North of Nags Head.
The updated forecast indicates that Irene's eye should pass very close to Kill Devil Hills, NC (OBX) on Saturday around 2:00pm EDT, with 85MPH winds.
Vincent, Looks like all you are going to get is a lot of wind. What else would you expect from Irene??

I'm hoping that the fact that Vince has not posted here is a sign that he has run for cover... I would not want to try to out run Irene in a fiberglass buggy. Let's hope everyone makes it safely through this storm.

It looks like we are going to get hit with this also. As long as a tree doesn't land on the house or garage, we should be OK.
I think Vince lives in Manteo, which is still part of the Outer Banks. Tom

Good luck Tom and Kathleen. Keep us posted as the storm progresses through your area this week-end. Stock up on batteries and water.
Strangly, there's been no warning for my area. It should have died down a lot by the time it reaches us but we're still in its path according to the latest models.
Take good care.

I am still here and intend to ride it out. Thank you all for all your thoughts and prayers. As of right now 2:30pm EST we have a very light wind and some increasing clouds. The surf is about chest to head high and somewhat unorganized. I have spent the last 2 days securing vacation homes for the realty company I work for. 95% of the visitors have left the beach and about 40-50% of the locals. Technically I live on an island (Roanoke Island) about 4 miles West of the Outer Banks barrier island proper. (Nags Head) I am on a fairly high wooded lot. The main things I have to worry about are the Loblolly Pine trees around the house being blown down. (had no problem during Isabel in 2003) Believe it or not if we have strong NE winds the Sound (bay) is actually blown out and the water drops a few feet. Flooding would be from the heavy rain and since we have had very little rain over the Summer most of it will be taken in by the ground.
I have put all my Manx stuff (orig yellow and SR) in my outside shed and it should be fine. (even if a tree falls on it, maybe wet but no problem)
I will post as long as I can and may text Louis if we lose power to let everyone know how we are. (I do have a generator and have 30 gallons of water ready in 5 gallon buckets.)

Best of luck Vince, I wish there was something we could do to help. Sounds like you've prepared well (and looks like you've been trhough this before). Glad to hear you'll be keeping us up to speed on your situation.
We're all rooting for you and your entourage.

Anyone get news from Vince? How about Tom and Kathleen?
I think Tom from TJ Kustoms probably got hit as well...
Would love to get an update from all you folks. Hope you're all fine.
Montreal got hit by the side of it and it's fairly weak. Just rains a lot and some gusting winds... Power's been out for 2 hours.

We came through the storm OK! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!! I hope and pray that Tom and Kathleen and TJ Tom have done well as well. Also for all the others who are in the path or have gone through this storm.
We had very minor issues: branches down, pine straw everywhere and we lost power for 29 hrs. (We live on a high lot and are about a mile from the water.) We did see 90mph winds with slightly higher gusts, but they were defused by the tall pine trees around our house. We have power now and if you looked at my yard you would never know anything happened. (spent the day cleaning up) With that said the west facing sound front (bay front) took a terrible beating. There was 4'-6' of water in and under houses, cars flooded and floating away. There is also a layer of smelly silt covering the areas where the water was. During the height of this flooding some people had 3' breaking waves coming into their houses. Nothing like this has been seen here for well over 30 years. People lost their houses and some businesses just down the road from me. You may not see any of this damage since it did not happen on the ocean side.
Once the eye of the storm passed we had a strong west wind the blew the water up the sound (bay). It piled up until it had gotten to 4'-6'+. This is all wind driven and not really affected by the tides like on the ocean side. My buddy, where I docked my boat, called me at 11:00am and told me that my boat was sitting on the bottom with no water on the canal. (when we had a NE wind that blew the water out and away from shore) He then sent me a picture at 6:30pm of my boat floating 1' over the bulkhead and his pier was 2' underwater. He ended up with 2' of water in his ground floor and the water over the wheels of his cars.
The irony of all this is that I got an e-mail from work at 10:45am this morning to come into work to help check on damage on rental houses. There was no asking how me and my family were or if we needed any help. I have Vincent and you all concerned about me and some of the people I work for are only interested in the, sad to say, money. I have had people e-mail, text, and facebook to find out how I fared that I have never met in person. I am grateful for everyone's thoughts and prayers and if you want to know what kind of people are interested in dune buggies? THE BEST kind of people!!!!!!!!

We are OK. As usual, they overplayed the storm. We got 40 -50 MPH winds an @ 4" of rain. There are power outages, but we didn't loose power. I am sure TJ Kustoms got hit worse than we did. Thanks for your concern. Tom
