The UK to SF is almost as bad as the one I do every year or two when I go visit my wife's family in the Philippines which is 28 hours total travel time. Let me get through the first event before we start talking of a second one.

I'll try to let you know, I'll probably be in Helen Back or in McGuires over in Destin and I'll be at any hockey games on at the Civic Center in P'cola. I'll be at the Polar Bear Dip at FloraBama on New Year's Day as well...Image

Maybe we'd better shut up and let the thread get back on trackImage

Hey Louis I was wondering when Dave would chime in with that story since I am in charge of the beach run.Image  (Instills a lot of confidence doesn't it??)  I now have a set of farm implement tires and a good sense of tire pressure so it should be no problem. (and for the record that is the first time I have been stuck in 25+ years and only the second time I have been stuck in my 48 year life.)  I will keep an eye on the tide and wind conditions which may make a change in where we do the beach run.

Dave is a great guy and he needs to be "drafted" to help out!! (Great looking Siggy Manx as well!!)

Louis have you heard anything form Bruce and Winnie?

I grew up on the beach here in Fl and have been stuck up to the axles more than once so I have no room to talk, but I won't let it stop me. :D I have full confidence in you as the off road cruise leader but I will make sure to bring a shovel and tow strap anyway. :p

No word from the Meyers yet. I am thinking they are probably waiting to hear from Carlisle first.

I just got a response back from Winnie and it doesn't look like they can afford to come at this time. I know surfnc has offered a place for them to stay but the plane tickets are very expensive. If anyone has an idea on how we might be able to help them out with the airfare please speak up. While I hope that they will be able to attend, we will go on with the event either way.

Thanks,

I wanted to post a quick update to let everyone know that even though there has not been much action on the boards stuff is still moving forward. We are trying to work it out so that Bruce and Winnie can attend the event as guests of the Manx Club and I am working on getting some info to Bob H. to make that happen. We have picked up a couple more volunteers to help out locally but could use a few more to help with registration, etc. Vince (SurfNC) has made up a draft vinyl window sticker for the event that will be included with your registration and looks really cool.

Thanks,

Thanks for the update Louis... Anything you need me to do? Currently I'm just planning on coming up with a triptick for the route so people know what to expect.

Hi Adam,

If you have some time maybe you could look into pricing on having some t-shirts done for the event. Maybe contact Bob Hunter and see how that has been handled in the past. We would want to keep them on the cheap side so they don't raise the price of the event too much. I am thinking something with a small logo on the front and a larger version on the back. Talk with Vince and get a copy of the sticker he is doing as a possible guide. Let me know if that is something you feel comfortable taking on.

Thanks,

I can definitely handle that.  What price point do you want me to shoot for? Vince is working on a design?

Hey Adam,

Here is the sticker I made.  Let me know what format you need it in and where to send it.  I have a vinyl cutter and can do other stickers.  In fact I have been subsidizing my income doing "die-cut" stickers for the surf shops around here for the past 10 years.

My post over on The Samba about the event:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=449191

Hopefully that will generate some interest and maybe draw in some new east coast members. I also updated the agenda with some tentative times for the activities. We are also still working on seeing we can work it out so that the Meyers can attend. If they do we will need to see if we can round up a loaner buggy for them.

Was this always set to be a member's only event?  Might we want to open some of it up to non-members as a recruiting effort?

Hi Adam,

Manx Club events are always club only events to my knowledge but people are more than welcome to join at the door. Its only $20 and one of the reasons I wanted to organize this event is to bring more value to east coast members.

Thanks,

Looks like a Samba mod deleted your post in the buggy forum. Lame.
