Scale RC Challenge

Post by Faron »

Not long ago, Vincent Parisien posted a YouTube Video about the RocHobby, “The Peoples Car.” It’s a Radio-Controlled Car that is a good replica of a VW Beetle. In Vincents post, he said he would like to see someone chop off the body and slap a Buggy Body on one of those RC Cars, which gave me an idea!
We know many Manx Club Members enjoy the hobby of RC as well as real Dune Buggies, so after clearing it with the BOD. We have put together a friendly Scale RC Challenge.
The Challenge starts March 1st, 2023 and you must complete your RC Scale Challenge Car by May 15th. Vincent & I will set up a way for the Club to vote for the WINNERS, and they will be announced at Manx in the Midwest. Details to follow.
* First Place - $100.00 Gift Certificate for Manx Club Swag
* Second Place - $50.00 Gift Certificate for Manx Club Swag
* Third Place - $25.00 Gift Certificate for Manx Club Swag
This Challenge is open to all Manx Club Members in Good Standing. If you are not a Manx Club Member in Good Standing & you WIN this Competition, you will WIN a one-year Manx Club Membership.
Manx Club Scale RC Dune Buggy Challenge Rules.
1. Start date is March 1st, 2023.
2. You can choose any kit you like; but there is a cap of $450.00 to what you can spend on this project. The idea is to build a Manx-styled Fiberglass Dune Buggy from a “Ready to Run” RC Car, so you will have to spend a lot of TIME and money to get a good scale look. You will have to do some research to find a Dune Buggy Body that will work for this challenge.
3. The Scale Dune Buggy must be a running driving vehicle; you must send video proof of it under its own power.
4. You will have 75 days to complete the project, so you must be finished by May 15th, 2023, at Midnight. You will be asked to submit a photo that best displays your Scale RC Dune Buggy Challenge Buggy by May 17th, 2023, so we can prepare for Manx Club Members to Vote.
5. If you already have RC Cars and want to use them, you are welcome to do so. But your budget limit will be $200.00 less. So you will only have a total Budget of $250.00.
This is a fun competition, so don’t take it too seriously. You can find RTR Kits at local Hobby Stores or online. This is an example of what is available.
