how does the quick connect work and what does it look like (pictures)? I used an air hose brass fitting quick connection, it failed ; broke on the whip end due to brass being weak material. my question is would it work if connector was metal ? I used brass so no rust from beach salt. whip failed from high winds driving on highway at 65mph.

Here is a Firestick quick disconnect (and separate Firestick heavy duty mounting spring) on our Jeep. It has a bayonet that the mount slides over, push down and a quick 1/4 turn and it's secure.
