How do you identify rear IRS arm?

Post by langan »

Trying to order Empi rear disk kit. 2 to chose from 1 is for 68 and up plus 68 swing and the other for 73-79. Ran my chassis numbers and they say 1963.

1963 would of course be swingaxle! Maybe someone converted the rear to IRS??? I do not recall any "lug bolt hole" differences, as all IRS 4 bolt lug holes are 14mm & the bolt circle is the same!

I just checked the CB Performance website & the only differences they mention are:

1967 & down swingaxle "short axle"!
1968 only swingaxle "long axle"!
1969 & up IRS!

All of these rear disc brake kits are 4 lug!

I've heard of too many problems with EMPI disc brake kits... the ones from CB Performance are much better quality! However, there are other companies that manufacture & sell quality kits too!

Emergency brake cable length may be why you are seeing different kits for the IRS disc brake kits.
In a shorten buggy chassis it won't make a differences as you have to shorten cables.
