pushrod tubes

Post by joemama »

I am trying to get rid of some leaks, so I am replacing the doughnuts on the pushrod tubes. I have the spring loaded style of tubes, and I am stuck using these until I feel like removing the heads, at wich time I will go back to stock style tubes. My question now is, use silicone sealer on the doughnuts? or not. I previously used blue rtv, but not sure it helped, and it sure is a pain to clean off. I have heard that the seals should go on dry, as they kind of melt in place. Any words of wisdom? I would appreciate a quick answer, as I am trying to do this today. Thanks.

For what it's worth...I always install them dry and usually don't have a problem.
