2020 Big Bear Bash [Updated]

Post by vincent9993 »

2020 Big Bear Bash
The Big Bear Bash event committee is still actively working on details for the 2020 Big Bear Bash event scheduled for July 9th-12th. The 2020 BBB will be recognizing the 25th Anniversary of the Manx Club visiting Big Bear, CA.

We are working in hopes that the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation will be resolved enough by then to allow us to gather and enjoy the great beauty that is Big Bear Lakes, CA. The situation is still unpredictable though and we will do our best to notify our members ASAP of any changes. This situation is still very fluid and we will have to adapt as we go.

I want to thank you all for your patience during these times, this is definitely a situation we have never had to deal with. We will update this thread if something changes.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to send me an email

2020 Big Bear Bash Update

On April 17, 2020 the Health Officer of the County of San Bernardino released his latest orders for the control of COVID-19 (see attached).

In short;
County of San Bernardino wrote:3. Public or Private Gatherings. Public or private Gatherings, as defined, are hereby prohibited in the County. A “Gathering” is defined as any event or convening that brings or is likely to bring together two or more people from more than one household or living unit in a single room or space at the same time, such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, room, hall, or any other indoor or outdoor space used for non-Essential purposes. This includes Gatherings at private residences of people who do not live at that residence. This Order does not apply to homeless encampments or Gatherings required for the Essential businesses referenced in Section 1 above.

4. Public Recreational Activities. Jurisdictions with public recreational locations such as parks, trails, beaches, lakes and rivers should monitor usage and parking on a regular basis. If usage of a public recreational location results in a failure to comply with social distancing, the responsible jurisdiction should take steps, where feasible, to reduce usage to achieve social distancing. Such steps could include, but are not limited to, closing parking lots, closing the location, or any other reasonable steps to reduce public use. Public exercise and playground equipment should be cordoned off to isolate commonly-touched surfaces.

10. Lodging and Short-Term Rentals. Short-term lodging facilities, including hotels, motels, and short-term residential-style rental units, are to cease operations unless they are being used only for one of the following two COVID-19 mitigation and containment measures:
  1. Protecting homeless populations, for example, isolation, quarantine or the housing of displaced persons, or
  2. Housing workers that are performing Essential Critical Infrastructure functions.
His orders stand until they are rescinded (no date projected). Big Bear, CA is located in San Bernardino County. As a result of these existing restrictions, and the uncertainty of a date of when the orders will be lifted, we are not able to open registration or even predict when we will be able to open registration for the Manx Club’s 2020 Big Bear Bash. Besides the County’s Order, the forest is controlled by the USFS, so there are two orders controlling the Big Bear area. As soon as we are able to, we will evaluate our options.

We will continue to monitor the situation and update when there are any changes.

We continue to ask for your patience regarding this matter.
Thank You

Re: 2020 Big Bear Bash*CANCELLED* [Updated]

It is with great sadness that we must announce the Manx Club’s 2020 Big Bear Bash event scheduled for July 9-12 is Officially CANCELED. The current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation has California under Executive Order & Public Health Order restrictions where public gatherings at this time are not allowed. The Manx Club, in hosting the Big Bear Bash must work with our Insurance carriers and the US Forest Service for trail permits. The event coordinators have been in contact with these agency’s and have been advised that even IF public gatherings were to be allowed, We would still be required to submit an operational plan and would be required to follow a strict list of COVID-19 precautions. The event coordinators have also been in communication with fellow club members that are in the medical field dealing with this virus on the front lines. They have shared their opinion that, while some aspects of life are returning to normal, there are still a lot of unknown’s about this virus. It is still to early in the re-opening phase to be able to predict the effects of more active interactions. They have recommended against hosting a gathering at this time. The healthcare world they are a part of is preparing for a resurgence.
The Manx Club is a family style membership of individuals that love the buggy lifestyle. Everyone’s health & safety is of the utmost importance to us. We have a large number of members, including Winnie & Bruce that are in a high risk category and are not comfortable participating in a group gathering at this time. The 2020 BBB was intended to bring us all together to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the club visiting the area. We on the event committee do not feel it would be a true celebration without everyone being able to attend comfortably.
We plan on coming back bigger and better in 2021!

Please remember if you have made lodging arrangements it is up to you to make any necessary changes.

Thank You for your understanding, This was NOT an easy decision to make.
Please stay safe out there
