Where should we start? This morning it was the show ‘n shine….and yes it was raining. We were at the State Park but people came even with the rain and we had fun. We had an onsite food car to feed people. In the afternoon, we went to visit the USS The Sullivan DD-537 which is at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park. Why did we go visit that navy ship (a Fletcher-class destroyer)? So on May 11th, 1945, near Kyushu (Japan), it rescued 166 marines who were on the USS Bunker Hill which was attacked by two Japanese Kamikazes. You are still asking why? So Mr. Bruce Meyers was on the USS Bunker Hill on that day. Thank God he was a lifeguard before so he was able to save many people from drowning. He tells us the story and I can tell you that lots of people had tears in their eyes. At 89 years old, he visited the ship, went down in the lower levels, this Man is really amazing. I can tell you that the excitement was as its highest. This moment will remain in our memory for many years. After the visit, the remaining of the afternoon was free. We went back to the hotel to relax. The dinner was at the Towne. During the dinner, we saw ourselves on the TV. This morning at the show ‘n shine, a team of reporters were there and at the evening news, we were on the air…it was really cool. After that, we returned to the hotel for the awards, the raffles of the sponsor gifts and as well, conclude the silent auction. Again, nice prices, wonderful people and a day and evening that people enjoyed. Tomorrow we will have a last farewell breakfast before people go back home. A few people will remain here until Tuesday. Vincent and I will be back on that day to start, the following day, our ECVW trip to California.
Have a nice evening.
