Thanks for that additional info Joe. I did get a bit of a chuckle at some of those "facts" from this very trustworthy US website.
  • Some provinces require drivers to keep their headlights on during the day.
I'm not aware of that requirement, hell I can't even get people to turn on their lights at night. In Canada we have DRL (Daytime Running Lights) that only turn on the front headlights (automatically) in low power settings. This means that scores of people drive their cars with no tail lights at night!
  • Rapid lane-changes without signaling, and tailgating are common.
LOL! Traffic behavior is no different than any other major North American cities. After driving throughout many US large cities, I can assure you that idiot drivers are as present as any other cities. Most Canadians will apologize for being an a-hole on the road though ;-)
  • Drivers should be aware that the frequency with which motorists run red lights is a serious concern throughout Canada, and motorists are advised to hesitate before proceeding on green.
Seriously?! I guess it's sound advise... Driving a glass buggy requires to be extra careful and I always abide by the principle that someone is out to get us but fear not, Canadian are just as bad drivers as their American counterparts. ;-)
On a more practical level, Quebec and Ontario have both tightened down on speeding considerably. Both provinces have introduced legislation to crack down on what they call excessive speeding. Anyone caught doing 50Km/h (30mph) over the posted speed limit will be fined with "Stunt Driving / Racing" and will have their cars impounded for 7 days and $2,000 fine.

Just like in the US, most law enforcement will 'tolerate' up to 19Km/h (11mph) over the speed limit on the Autoroutes (Interstates).

Remember that Niagara Falls is a touristic area and we're going to run into many Sunday drivers.

Don't let any of this information deter you from enjoying cruising into the Niagara Falls (Canadian) area. Get your passport and proof of insurance and have fun!

Driving into LA last year, no tailgating going on here!

the information on registration does not seem to post up when I go to your site. Maybe I am confused by all the colors.

Normally the flyer/registration form are published on the Manx Club site, so members do not have to jump all over the internet to pre-register for events.

Joe

Gary, Marc, Rebecca,

Thanks for posting the info up on the site. There's a lot of good info there.

Actually, I post the registration form for MOTB on the MOTB website also. 98% of the people that register for the MOTB get the form from the MOTB website. It's great that the forms are in two places (the micro site and the MC website). Covers more ground.

Nice work.

Manx Club First Time Event Attendees,

If you are planning to attend the MOTF and have never attended a MC event before, do yourself a favor and review the Usher System document that has been posted at the link below. This system is used at each MC event regardless of whether it is on the west coast or east coast or parts in between. It seems simple, and it is, but it can make the difference between successfully moving a group of buggies from point A to point B and general chaos.

Since MOTF will take place in and around the city of Buffalo there is going to be a lot of opportunity to "practice" this system.

Find the document here: http://www.eastcoastdunebuggies.com/UsherSystem.pdf

Release and Waiver of Liability form has been added to the website. This form can be downloaded, filled in, and mailed in with the Registration Form. If you have already mailed in your Registration Form, the Release and Waiver of Liability form will be given to you for completion once you arrive at the event.

After a late submission to the board , I have just been informed, that my request for a security guard for our Manx over the Falls event has been approved , this means if you are a Manx club member , and our staying at our host hotel , the Holiday Inn on Delaware , the Manx club will have a security guard , in the hotel parking lot from 11 PM till 7 AM , Thursday , Friday and Saturday .
This hopes to put all of our out of town Buggy lovers mind at ease so they can have a pleasant slumber and not worry about their buggy at night .
This being a first type Urban City Manx Club event , some of our members thought this would be a good Idea , and I agree !
Well everybody get your registrations in and we will see you very soon here in Buffalo!
The warm weather is here and it is beautiful ; the temp was 80 degrees today !
