Date My Gas Cap

Post by rzeller »

I wanted to keep my vintage gas cap (since it extends outside of the hood) when I replaced my tank this winter. So, I had the old filler neck cut off and welded to my new gas tank. Since I only have this one gas cap I wanted to find out what year(s) it was from so that I might get another as a spare. Can anyone date the cap for me? Also, if you happen to have one laying around that you might want to get rid of, please drop me a PM. Thanks for the help. Bud Here's the new tank with my old cap: Image Close up of the cap: Image

If the filler neck measures 70mm it'll be a '61-''67 Bug one. Check out the classifieds on http://www.thesamba.com to see pics of other types.
