That would work for me, I don't know about other people. Being retired and no other obligations at this time I am open to what ever happens.
I do have to thank Ed McGirk and Roy Robbins for helping me make the 2013 trip. Without them my trip would have ended in Tucson.

Any other updates or even a tentative schedule for the traverse? From what Mike was indicating with arrival on Sunday, Oct 11, that would have the crew arriving in Memphis Oct 8, Nashville Oct 9, Ashville NC Oct 10 and OBX on the 11th. Does that sound correct?

Tim,
Here's my dilemma, the schedule has us going from Oklahoma City to Little Rock which is only 337 miles, but that's after a stop a the Oklahoma City Memorial. It's 138 miles (2-3 hrs) further from Little Rock to Memphis, TN. I'm just unsure if that's all comfortably doable in one day. Or if the group wanted to spend more time in Memphis we can look at pushing the remaining schedule back 1 day, or I can look at changing the last couple of stops.

Wednesday-Oct 7-Day 4- Oklahoma City, OK to Little Rock, AR – 337 Miles — 7.5 hours (I-40E)
Thursday-Oct 8-Day 5- Little Rock, AR to Nashville, TN – 431 Miles — 9 hours (I-40E)
Friday-Oct 9-Day 6- Nashville, TN to Winston-Salem, NC – 298 Miles — 7 hours (I-40E)
Saturday-Oct 10-Day 7 – Winston-Salem, NC to Nags Head, NC – 345Miles – 6.5 hours (I-40E/US-64E/NC-12)

Sounds good to me, Mike. We just need to sweet talk the rentals for an extra night the following Saturday.

California to North Carolina
This is the latest plan, there are 2 options once we leave Little Rock, AR. We can spend some time in Memphis, TN to see some sights(plan 2) and arrive the OBX on Sunday. The house's we've been researching are 7 day rentals so arriving in the OBX on Saturday would require booking for an extra day.
Sunday-Oct 4-Day 1– San Diego, CA to Tucson, AZ – 425 miles – 9.5 hours (I-8E/I-10E/E22nd Street)

Monday-Oct 5-Day 2- Tucson, AZ to Roswell, NM.- 460 Miles — 10 hours (I10E/US-70E)

Tuesday-Oct 6-Day 3- Roswell, NM to Oklahoma, OK – 470 Miles — 10.5 hours (US-70E/I-40E)

Wednesday-Oct 7-Day 4- Oklahoma City, OK to Little Rock, AR – 337 Miles — 7.5 hours (I-40E)

Thursday-Oct 8-Day 5- Little Rock, AR to Nashville, TN – 431 Miles — 9 hours (I-40E)
Plan 2 - Little Rock, AR to Memphis, TN - 138 mi - 2.5 hr
Friday-Oct 9-Day 6- Nashville, TN to Winston-Salem, NC – 298 Miles — 7 hours (I-40E)
Plan 2 - Memphis, TN to Newport, TN - 439 mi - 6.5 hrs (I-40E)
Saturday-Oct 10-Day 7 – Winston-Salem, NC to Nags Head, NC – 345 Miles – 6.5 hours
Plan 2 - Newport, TN to Raleigh, NC - 313 mi - 5 hr
Sunday-Oct 11-Day 8 - Raleigh, NC to Nags Head, NC - 196 mi - 3.5 hr

North Carolina to California
We are planning on stopping in Columbus, GA to visit our son & daughter in-law, there are a few places of interest in Columbus, GA like the US Army infantry museum to visit. On I've also added a stop to visit the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. If you can not make the return drive, Scott Drolet can be contacted in regards to shipping of buggy's back from North Carolina. We understand this is a big time commitment.
Sunday-Oct 18-Day 1– Nags Head, NC to Columbia, SC - 400 mi - 6 hr

Monday-Oct 19-Day 2— Columbia, SC to Columbus, GA - 300 mi - 5 hr (visit our son)

Tuesday-Oct 20-Day 3— Columbus, GA to Shreveport, LA - 544 mi - 8.5 hr (gain 1 hr)

Wednesday-Oct 21-Day 4— Shreveport, LA to Big Spring, TX - 478 mi - 7 hr

Thursday-Oct 22-Day 5— Big Spring, TX to Carlsbad, NM - 194 mi - 3.5 hr
Carlsbad, NM to El Paso, TX. - 156 mi - 2.5 hr
Friday-Oct 23-Day 6— El Paso, TX to Chandler, AZ - 413 mi - 6.5 hr (gain 1 hr)

Saturday-Oct 24-Day 7 — Chandler, AZ to Simi Valley, CA - 435 mi - 7 hr (gain 1 hr)

Total Miles: 2934 mi

If we are voting, option 2 would work. Our house we are renting goes Sat to Sat, but we can talk to the owners and see about slipping the dates for sun to sun. However, if option 1 works better for everyone, we can also make it work.

On your way back, why Shreveport???

This is a serious bucket list thing for me...any east coasters looking to try to get a bulk discount to ship our buggies out?

I grew up in Shreveport. If you stopped in West Monroe, you could visit Duck Commander/Buck Commander.

It's a possibility for us please post more about motels, camping, etc. and if there will be buggies shipped back maybe enough of them could be a truckload shipped to one location and we could all pick the up at the same time and have a party swapping stories. I have the room for truck loads but I'm in central California which might work out if people would like to go to Sequoia or Yosemite national parks near by. We also live minutes away from Lake Success with a great campground, full hookups, pontoon boats, row boats, and hot showers etc.

I have a new idea for the drive East. I have had a few people let me know they would like to do the Tail of The Dragon. I think we can add it in, we would run the Tail from Tennessee to North Carolina and then stop at the gift shop, then we could continue on to Raleigh, NC.

Thursday-Oct 8-Day 5- Little Rock, AR to Memphis, TN - 138 mi - 2.5 hr (Explore Memphis)

Friday-Oct 9-Day 6- Memphis, TN to Lenoir City, TN - 375 mi - 6 hrs

Saturday-Oct 10-Day 7 – Lenoir City, TN to Raleigh, NC - 396 mi - approx 7 hrs via - (Tail of the Dragon)

Sunday-Oct 11-Day 8 - Raleigh, NC to Nags Head, NC - 196 mi - 3.5 hr

Anyone looking for a navigator? Might be cost prohibitive to ship the buggy west...

Tim, We can get our rental house on Saturday also, so we can look at a Saturday arrival in the OBX.
