Here's a short video of this morning's ceremonial start. I did not see our boys but it's still interesting to see the activities as they left the starting line!

Looks like both cars have completed their 1 Special Stage of 144 miles and they're both at RM 169.3. Then next 100 miles is a TC stage with regulated speed zones.

I'll report back as I get any updates.

Both cars are moving again and heading to San Quintin to start D1SS2. One of the 2 cars may have blown a clutch (possible the Tow'd). They're reported to be looking for a spare...

Car #166 at RM 212, they're about 1/2 way to the finish line for Day 1
Car #00 at RM 176 and moving constantly...

Looks like team Tow's #166 has stopped at RM 223 about 40 miles ahead of the Manxter... I'll try to get an update from the blog/twitter feeds...

Good news, according to the live tracking, Team Tow'd #166 is moving again 48mph... Team Manxter is now only about 30 miles behind...

Looks like team Tow'd #166 had reached the checkpoint for the start of D1SS2. This is a 112 mile Special to El Crucero. Lets hope their clutch trouble won't hurt them too much.

Oops! Someone missed a turn around 5:30pm.

At 6:14pm PDT it appears that both buggys have opted for the shorter highway route into Bay of LA. On second thought it appears that #00 is backtracking to the missed turn and going to take the off-highway route. The last scan on the status indicates that #00 is committed to the highway route. Both buggys are cruising at around 60 MPH. Remember that when it gets dark in BAHA driving at night is a very different different proposition.

The TOWD is about 1 hour from Bay of LA, if there are no more problems

The Manxter is about 2 hours from the end of the day.

Manxter also taking the highway...

Let's hope they can make it to camp early enough to fix whatever needs attention. The good news it they have the speed so it's most likely not direct powertrain related...

The TOWD is on the way down the hill on the NW side of Bay of LA. About 3/4 mike to go for today.

Nice drive guys.

The Manxter is about 60 minutes behind the TOWD.

Thanks for the update Joe, they sure did good! I've reached out to multiple channels on social media to try to get an update from both cars. Let's hope they can mend whatever kept them from taking on the 2nd Special.

Is there a list of the crew sequences for each buggy?

As expected, we're under radio silence from the teams... Cellular coverage in Bahia de los Angeles is non existent... We'll try to update you as the day progresses.

I've got quite a few call outs to the media outlets and the local bloggers to try to get an update. The good news is they got to camp pretty early and lets hope they've had a chance to mend whatever needed attention.

According to the official schedule, they should be staging at 0700 and take the start at 0800 local times.

In the mean time, I was able to dig up a clip of Team Tow'd and Manxter's start (Skip to 9:50)

You can also see a clip of James Garner's buggy being driven at 2:45.

Here's a pic of the other Manxter DS in Baja
