East Coast Visiting West
The plan is to leave Montreal on July 1st, head south to New York area and join up with a few brave members and drive to California for the Big Bear Bash event and the 50th anniversary of the Meyers Manx.
France has been working hard on a route option.  We are looking at leaving Allentown, PA on Wednesday July 2nd and arrive in San Diego on Wednesday July 8th.  We’ve tried to keep each segment under the dreaded 500 mile mark but unfortunately in some cases it’s simply not possible.  We’ve purposely stayed on the northern route as much as possible to avoid the summer heat.
The proposed route has us going to the top of Mt.Evans, Pikes Peak, the Million Dollar Highway and the Four Corners.  We are looking at a total one way distance of 3,100 miles.
We're now stopping in St-Louis on the 4th of July as suggested...
Following some of the feedback received and more research, France has tweaked the plan a little.
With this updated plan, we're visiting 18 different states (one way) (leaving from Montreal).

For the return trip, France and I are looking to take a southern route in an attempt to visit the most states possible.  You can consider the return trip optional but you have to come back somehow Image

Interesting route.  Count us in for the ride.  However, depending on Kathleen's vacation schedule, we may have to pick her up on the way, or catch up to you along the way.  We may also be bringing a support vehicle along with the '68 Manx.  Thanks for organizing this.  Tom

Kicking this around really hard.  Will have to step up the Manx build and have the body painted by April 1, 2014 to be ready to make the journey.

Wow, your paint takes a long time to dry - don't it?!  ;-)

Let us know if there's anything we can do to help and feel free to comment on the planned route.  The Meyers Manx 50th anniversary is only going to happen this year you know...  Image

With the cold weather that we had this week, it was time to finalize our ECVW trip that will scheduled between July 1st to July 21st. The route to Big Bear was already finalized and all our hotel reservations are already made. The return trip to Montreal was not completly finalized. See below the route we decided to take. We modified it a little to ensure we could hit Florida. As you know, France and I would like to visit all 49 continental States as soon as possible with the Kick Out SS. We anticipate that by the end of July 2014, there would only be 5 States to visit, next year we will be visiting 4 more states so the last one, Hawaii, will be last one remain just like the one that we still need to visit with the Red buggy.

It would be great if we could know exactly who is commited to join us on the trip out to Big Bear and who's planning on returning with us. In just a little bit more than 5 months we will be on the road for that wonderful adventure and we are looking forward to driving with friends and their buggy. If you have any questions, you can contact me and it will be my pleasure to answer you.

plea part

Come on people, join us for the trip of your life....we will see the Million Dollar Highway, we will climb the highest paved mountain road in North America (Mount Evans) and as well the famous Pikes Peak. We also plan to see the four corners (four states at the same time) and as well do a quick stop to Winnie and Bruce's place and have dinner with them the night before going to Big Bear. Believe us, you will remember this trip for the rest of your life. France will be more than happy to capture that "once in a life time trip" and share the pictures with you. So join the ECVW (East Coast Visiting West) in July, you will not regret it. We will visit 32 States and 2 Provinces for the round trip.

You guys are going to have the best time ever! (Hmmm . . . I wonder if Valerie and Eric of Island Cruisers offer a one-way option on their Manx Rental?).

Great idea Scott, worst case just rent one for 4 months and return it by driving it back to MOTB in the fall.  I'm sure Eric and Val would be happy to have one of their buggies go on an extended vacation in the dry Pacific weather and get a break from the humid/rusty Atlantic climate.  It would be a great marketing opportunity as well!  Island Cruisers going global!  Let me know if you need their phone number?  Image
