PM Messages

Post by Chicago Joe »

I used to get these messages all the time. For a while some members thought I was pulling their legs about the messages. I finally went to the UserCP tab at the top of each page and disabled all of the message features. I really do not miss the PMs & E-Mail from this site. All you need to do is register on the site & you will have the ability to send/receive PMs & E-Mail messages. The problem seems to come from being an open registration site. The Administrator has to spend a lot of time & effort to cull the undesirables from the 'registered user' & member registrations. When I was the Admin I started out with over 1800 'registered users' and about 275 members on the lists. A couple of weeks later the count was down to 301 & 107. About 100 man hours of work to pull the counts to those levels. Looking at this morning’s numbers I would guess that we have about 375 Registered Users & members, who really have no legitimate reason to be on this forum. They are here to sell real estate, drugs, porn, etc. If you remember about 12 to 18 months ago, ago there was a great deal of support for the open forum. Lots of members contacted the board of directors and encouraged the open forum concept. We now have a forum that most members seem to be satisfied with. If you want a change, you will need to start talking to the Board of Directors and lobby them for a change. I personally think you should pay to use the forum. The Club is a private membership group. Your dues support the platform for the spammers & hackers. When was the last time that a member got a worthwhile PM or e-mail from the undesirable elements?
