Porsche Cooling Fan Housing

Post by gary dam »

I was going to add this to the other cool fan tread but I think this might be easier. I was talking with Bernie Bergman about his engines and I mentioned that I was thinking about using the Sidewinder exhaust system, and he said don't use it, but dual canon system. He said that his fan would suck up the heat and make the engine run hotter. That makes sense, but I thought that the dual canon exhaust take away power. Anyone have any idea on this? Thanks Gary and Annie

I think its generally accepted that dual shotgun type exhaust will be down on power vs. an equal length collector system. I've also heard that even though a 911 type fan pumps more air than a Type 1, it doesn't do a good job of cooling the two rear cylinders because the air has to reverse direction. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=284314&highlight=911+cooling The DTM system seems to cool best. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=176562

I'd be tempted to use what works well. Looks are secondary.
