Berrien Rolling

Post by Gene-C »

Well we have another rolling chassis. After I took these pictures I put the floor pan on. Going to test fit the body tomorrow. Almost hate to put the old body on the new chassis. The pictures don't do the paint on the chassis justice. The paint is a lot better than it looks in the pictures. Something about picture taking I just haven't figure out yet :o Image Image

Some add ons on the chassis. I made shifter and e-brake handle mounts that fit flush aginst the bottom of the floor and are welded to the chassis. I welded 4, 1/4" bolts down the center to mount the fuel and brake lines to. Two of those are welded on the inside of the shifter and e-brake mount. The throttle cable tube is also welded there, I didn't want to screw it to the fiberglass. The e-brake tubes are also mounted to welded on bolts at the rear. Plates under the front floor to back up the fiberglass. Tabs underneath to mount belly pans to. I'm sure I am forgeting something. The body really needs to be refinished, but it is going to have to wait. Besides I have a date with the Ocala Forest in March. :D

Nice job! Is the Berrien chassis lighter than a VW pan? Thanks! Tom
