Here is my Manx dash. Gages from left to right: Turbo Boost, Tachometer, VW Speedo w fuel gage, Cylinder head temperature, Oil Pressure. I suggest you take into account seating position and steering wheel location in your dash planning. I find I have to move my head to see the tachometer. Also the ...

Thanks folks! Nelson, that is a great fitting top! I like the wrap around side windows too. Thanks for the masking tape for shapeing idea. I looked around and came up with this example: http://www.meyersmanx.com/gallery/data/572/TopShapewithTape.jpg From this website documenting an incredible Deser...

The green manx is one of my inspiration cars. The builder/owner found just the right look to my eye.

Top and Sidecurtains

It's wet and cold, and I miss driving my Manx! Time to weatherize. I looking for ideas for top and side curtains for my buggy. I just finished putting a 2 inch 'chopped' windshield on which I think means I will have to have a custom top stitched. Fortunately Seattle has a bunch of boat shops capable...

Welcome 69again! I?m pleased to see another buggy owner using ?old school? Corvair as power. I also have a Transvair setup saved from an old buggy, When I disassembled the buggy I found most of the suspension weight was supported by the stock VW torsion bars, but there was also a set of coil-over h...

Here is an interesting one for sale in Portland: A Berry Mini-T C-Cab, I remember being pretty impressed with the styling when they were introduced. Looks like plenty of room to enter/exit! http://images.craigslist.org/01010301020001030220070924a3cf7f21308a7d7c0500f227.jpg here is the Craigslist lin...

I?m 6 feet tall, and have never quite fit in a shortened Manx style buggy to my satisfaction. I always felt like I was sitting to high and not far enough back for comfort. In my latest re-build I made some modifications that I think other too-tall for little car folks might want to consider, especi...

I just finished the hood-off rebuild of my Manx Classic, which included installing a South-Wind gas heater. I thought I?d update this post with information for anybody else contemplating extending their buggy season with an on-board heater. Here is the finished product: http://www.meyersmanx.com/ga...

Manx2 tag

I found this body advertised on Craigslist. http://www.meyersmanx.com/gallery/data/564/medium/Manx2_Front_22May07.jpg It appears to be a Manx2, one piece hood/dash, no battery or tire well, and has a B.F. Meyers & Company tag with the number 1(?)259 stamped on it. I thought the tags also had a d...

I finally spent a few hours on getting the buggy ready for the upcoming summer season. I pulled the hood to install a larger gas tank, redo the gauges and wiring, and install a working 12 volt Stewart-Warner/South Wind gas heater out of a Craigslist 1967 bug being parted. It is a model 8345C-12. Te...

I got my Manx back on the road again last summer, and the brakes/stopping really frightened me. I?m amazed at how much shortening a 40 year old chassis, and vastly changing wheel and tire size can mess-up brake balance and vehicle control during stopping. My experience was along the lines of seabee...

Thanks for the links to the technical manuals. The set that is located on TheSamba is very complete and a high quality scan.... very readable. Thanks Jerry, I will try out the Coleman Golf Cart Heater, but I would still like to collect installation and use experience of the old school gas heaters (Southwind and Eberspacher and others) in buggies. I'm pretty sure there are some installations out there?
