Short  Answer Yes. It takes more to break torque than to apply torque. Second any lubrication etc will affect torque. If the Manufactuer specifies a thread lube then use it otherwise do not. Went to Kelley Park in San Jose, Ca last weekend. There must have been over 500 cars. Gene even made an appearance. Had a great time friends and family came buy. Anyway enjoy a sampling of photos. I used carrage bolts and ground off enough on oposing sides to fit in the slot . I think I used 3 on each side. Worked great

I used a dent puller (slide hammer). Screwed it in to the cover (in between the shaft and the housing facing aft) and a couple of slides. Move and repeat. Just tdont screw it in too far.

I did not use a mold. I was reinforcing what I had then Gel coated it to make it look original. You could apply mold release to your bay. fill it with two part foam. form the bottom and coat with mold release then glass in a new bottom. Remove the foam mold and go from there. I ended up Nickle plating mine. It was much cheaper. He even double plated it and buffed it to a high shine. When comapred to chorme it has a slightly yellower tinge to it.
