Re: Front disc brake conversion
I have had great results with C B Performance brake kits. Not the cheapest but great for the money. Kathleen's Manxter has over 40,000 miles on it and still has original pads & rotors. AC Industries pads were terrible, had to be replaced right away. Tom

Re: New owners of Meyers Manx
Who are the new owners? I listened to the drawing (not live) and only caught the name of Freeman Thomas, the car designer. I missed the name of the other 2 gentlemen. I can picture a new design out of Mr Thomas that would be very special. Tom

Re: New guy to the club with carb question
You are welcome for the information. I have only been playing with VW's for 51 years. There are members here that have a lot more time than that. We try to help when we can. Tom

Re: New guy to the club with carb question
I can tell by the shape of the body. Does it have a "pebbley" surface on the inside of the seating area? The bumps on the back of the body are made for @ '62 VW tailiight lenses. Some of the rear of the body has been cut away to make it easier to work on the engine. I made a removable sect...

Re: New guy to the club with carb question
When you 1st posted about your carb issues, I thought that might be the issue. Is that a FiberFab Clodhopper body? My 1st buggy was one of those. Tom

Re: New guy to the club with carb question
What distributor do you have on your engine? If it is a 009, that could be the problem. There are changes that must be made to the stock style carb to run with that distributor to get rid of the "flat spot". Tom

Re: Sea 2 Sea Safari 2
I was on Sea 2 Sea #1. Even though I was one of the 2 support vehicles, it was still a blast. We kept the broken down buggies moving until they could be fixed. I still got some buggy time when one of the buggy drivers needed out of their buggy. If you ever wanted a cross country trip and buggy event...

Re: Manx subaru build vs VW costs
11 years ago, we build a Subaru powered Manxter. We bought a "turn key" motor from Outfront, so I don't know how much the stuff you would need to make a donor motor work in a buggy. Stuff like exhaust, adaptors and as Vincent said so nicely, bits. The aftermarket computer was @ $1000.00, t...

Re: CC of a buggy motor
It is hard to tell from your piston measurement picture but assuming you have a stock stroke crankshaft (69mm) - stock 1600cc 85mm is 3.3465 87.5 is 3.4449 = 1641 88mm is 3.4646 90.5mm is 3.569 = 1776 92mm is 3.6220 = 1835 94mm is 3.7008 = 1915 Other than the aftermarket solid rocker arm shafts, it ...

Re: CC of a buggy motor
You are just going to have to pull the engine out, take it apart and start measuring the bore & stroke to figure out what you have, and then order the parts based on that. After all these years, the original number on the block doesn't mean much. Post some pictures of the heads after you measure...

Re: Rear Torsion Adjustment
I think the one that doesn't have a collar length listed is for the stock length torsion bar. https://swayaway.com/product-category/spring-plates/sp-vw/sp-vw-swingaxle/ It would be best to talk to them before ordering. I also know that other companies have the Chinese version for less $$, but these ...
