Re: Mazda Seats
I have a set of Mazda RX7 Turbo II seats that I plan to use. The Miata seats in my daughter's Miata are very similar. Both of these two sports cars have very low roof lines and therefor the seats and the sliders, etc sit very low in the car. I think they would be good choices to avoid a body lift. I...

I can't see it either. Just some sort of symbol I have seen with a broken image link.

Re: Picking up a buggy
Sorry I have been slow on this. As you suspected it is a Deserter GT built by a collaboration between Dearborn Automotive and Autodynamics the largest race car builder in the US at the time. They were built in Marblehead, MA, which makes them fairly rare on the West coast, but far more common on the...

Re: Join me (Madmanx) as I do the 2015 Manx Over The Falls
Bud, relating to the EZPass. There are several paces to just walk up and buy an EZPass here in VA. I think there is an office on RT 168 (The Chesapeake Expressway) that is right on your way. There is also an office at the south end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel I think. Here is the VA web site...

Re: Lithia MK III body
Thanks for the advice. I have been trying to think of the best way to do my Deserter that is in the same condition. I eventually want to flake it, but I want to get it going and driving. Soooo I may get a solid color finish and drive it for a while, disassemble and then flake it later. We will see.

Just to be sure.... You only put the flakes in the first clear coat? Not all 14? When Vince demonstrated for us, he shot clear, then shot dry flakes on the clear immediately after. I am assuming that is how Vince also did Bud's, but it is really just a guess as I don't remember from that thread. I a...

Re: Buggy Art. What do you have, what have you done
The Deserter Owners a few years back commissioned Dave Deal to alter the image everyone has seen that he did of a Bounty Hunter: http://i.ebayimg.com/09/!BmRWZUw!2k~$(KGrHqUH-EUEtt50vHjjBLfFFZktKw~~_35.JPG They paid him to modify it by putting Alex Dearborn (the Bruce Meyers of Deserters) in the dri...

Re: Motorcycle lift.
Bendpak has had auto/truck rated lifts like this for years I had looked at the Bendpak car lifts, but had never looked at their motorcycle lifts. I had a couple of issues with the Bendpak (and similar) car lifts. One is that their smallest ones still have a 6000lb capacity, enough to pick up 3 or 4...

Motorcycle lift.
Has anyone ever considered one of these lifts or something similar, but a little stronger? http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_21230.jpg http://www.harborfreight.com/1000-lb-capacity-motorcycle-lift-68892-8495.html I realize it ...

Re: Official Manx Club 2015 Wall Calendar
Brian, I would like to make a suggestion. In the Deserter Owners Group, we have a similar calendar. Each month Bob Elliott (who put together the calendar) posts a paragraph or two or three about the buggy featured on the picture that month. Sometimes he gets the owner to post a few comments, and som...

Re: Do You Own a Genuine Manx?
I don't have a Manx. When I decided I wanted a buggy I wanted a Deserter GT, and specifically went looking for one, and found the one I really wanted. There seem to be some people in the region of the country I am from that want a Scat Kat buggy that was built in NC. I have heard there are a few bug...

Re: First Build thread of 2015 and of the new Forum - Lorett
Cracks in the chassis are very likely from the extra flex caused by the "doors" cut into the body. I would guess the body stiffness from end to end was probably about 30-40% of original because of the doors. I saw it at MOTB and was glad to hear you planned to correct that situation.
