More Room for Buggys

In the automotive shops that I've worked in the air has been run through black pipe. I don't necessarily recommend that due to the rust that may form from the effects of condensation. Copper or Schedule 40 is your best bet. If you have water run in the shop you could simplify it all by going copper ...

My new Kick Out

Nice work Joe!  I'd love to see it in person.  Will you have it up in Orangevale?

Roof Rack for Hard Top

Louis,

Have you looked at the roof rack setup in the Garage section of the main Manx Club site?  It's a fairly basic rack that can be modified easily.
Here's a link.

EMPI Buggy Skid Plate Mounting

Bob, My bumper is a baja style bumper modified to fit my buggy. I have temporarily mounted the skid plate the way it's designed but it doesn't fit as well as I'd like and it will need some ingenuity to get it to fit the way I want it to. It looks like I may have to run a cross bar off the bumper and...

EMPI Buggy Skid Plate Mounting

How are you attaching your EMPI skid plate to your buggy?  I ask because I am trying to come up with an alternative mounting set-up. The rear mount is supposed to be attached to the engine case using the through bolt and L-Brackets.  I really don't like this for a couple of reasons.  One is the obvi...

Engine runs rough - poor quality Bosch ignition wires?

Ok,  here's what I found.  All the ignition checked out.  I took apart the distributor to check the advance weights, they were fine.  The cap and rotor looked fine with a very small amount of corrosion but that was easily scraped off with a knife.  Plugs checked out fine.  This wasn't ignition relat...

Memorial Day Weekend fun

I was fortunate to be able to stretch the legs on the buggy this past Memorial Day Weekend.  If you're current on my buggy condition you know that I've been dealing with the consequences of letting the buggy sit for an extended period of time.  The thought had occurred to me that I might have some t...

Engine cage mounting points

If you are asking about the two main bolts holding the motor mount in you will need to at the very least support the engine well enough as the bolts are a major mounting point and hold the drivetrain to the frame. There is a lot of weight there. You'd be better off removing the engine. It's a very q...

Media Blasitng Booths??

The booth I used for my pan was actually a converted cargo container. The side door opened up enough to get stuff inside. Problem was it wasn't much more than 20 feet long and got a bit hot inside and not much in the way of ventilation. Afterward you just sweep up the spent media and run it through ...

Not sure but I really dig the front bumper. That buggy really has it's own personality.

Engine runs rough - poor quality Bosch ignition wires?

Joe, Seems I posted my solution a bit prematurely.  Last night on my way home I really pressed the buggy hard.  It's still acting up. What is happening now is a misfire type feeling after I accelerate hard under near wide open throttle.  The misfire lasts for a while too.  It does clear up and durin...

Engine runs rough - poor quality Bosch ignition wires?

Well, I actually think I have this figured out.  Since you don't start a story at the end I'll fill you all in... Since February my poor little buggy has been sitting.  I occasionally warmed it up but never actually drove it due to the rain and any other excuse I came up with.  Last month or so I di...
