The carpet used in power boats is good stuff, looks great, waterproof and takes a pounding. You can buy this from most good trim suppliers, along with the edge binding. Then you buy your wife a sewing machine for christmas :D Thats what i did years ago  good job it was too heavy for her to thro...

RIP Jack Barry
Fond memories of Jack who sadly passed away last week. Originally from USA, then moved to Scotland. Jack had racing and buggies in his blood. He raced from 57 to 66 as the JJJ racing team in the mid west. Jack purchased his Meyers Manx way back in 66, which he was rebuilding, until he fell ill. Jack...

Acetone is best, I work with fibreglass, and have used it to mop up gel coat off our leather armchairs  also it to get resin off my jeans etc etc, Just try some where it wont show first, like under the seats. There is a resin remover for cleaning your hands (non solvent based) you can get this ...

Yes the ears of the hardtop should be on the outside  but Pete, the guy that built this Manx up, chose to tuck em inside the tub,, not my idea. Funny thing is, this was the actual Manx (mock up) that I did the test with, but the ears were on the outside,, on the 85 mph test. Also there were no ...

I made all the authentic Meyers Manx kits for the UK market, from 99 to 03. I found that the screen and hardtops need to be locked together. The screens available today are not as tough as they were back in the 60s. I did some tests, and found that it was possible, for flexing, and strong winds comb...

Have you tried polyester spray on filler (bondo i think you call it) you can put this stuff on with a roller, in UK its called,, Reface ,,made by Upol. This will fill 40 grit scratches without sinkage, in bondo. Good stuff when working with GRP, it is even possible to use this in place of gel coat, ...

I have done it with primer, works well with sponge rollers, I have also put gel coat onto moulds with the same type rollers, that works fine also. As with all car paintwork, its 90% prep work, a good paint sprayer is not worth as much as a good prep guy, put a guide coat on the primer, flat it down ...

If you really love the low life, you can drop the body shell down. Leave the thing bolted down to the chassis, and cut the body off a few inches above the flange, turn the shell upside down, and remove a few inches from the tub, then fix 4 timber batons (for a temporary fix) to each corner of the bo...
