Use a gas strut like Oliver did on his Subi-Manxter
I have see 1/8" aircraft cable also used.
Be sure to put a couple of twists in it so it will coil up when you close the hood

Field mice love the plastic insulation on wiring.

Not at all unusual with the EPA spec fuel that is sold today.
Seems like the higher ethanol percentages cause the sealant to fail.

No way I would use the one with the "belly button" hole in it. With all of the time & expense you are doing for the rebuild process I would wait and see what you have when finished. You might decide that no badge is the way to go, or come up with a different idea by then. Been in the b...
