Re: Ford and Chevy Rims

I just posted an add for undrilled front drums. These are hard to find, and not stocked by any of the VW parts vendors. I special ordered them but sold the buggy they were going to be used on. Brand new, $150 for the pair + shipping. Get the rear drums for your preferred lug pattern from SoCal, they...

Blank ball joint front brake drums: New in box now SOLD

Blank ball joint front brake drums: New in box SOLD I have a pair of new, special-order blank front brake drums for ball joint beams. These will fit 68 and up Beetles and Ghias, and are the only way to run non-VW wheels on your 4-lug VW or buggy without using adapters. Custom drill at any automotiv...

Re: Porsche rims on manxters?

Here's mine, with Porshe Lobster Fork wheels on custom adapters. It handles like a go cart, but the low profile tires provide a very stiff ride.

Yellow Manxter on N. CA Highway 17 6/16

Coming home from work last night, I saw a yellow Manxter headed north on Highway 17 in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Is it anyone from here? I'd love to find another Manxter owner in the area to compare notes with.

Re: manxter wiper wiring...How did you do yours?

I'll be watching this thread closely. I have a wiper assembly (assumed to be) from the '74 donor Beetle, and what looks like a stock dashboard switch. One of my projects this year is to get the wipers installed and working.

Re: Manxter headlight aiming

Joe, just the advice I was looking for. My first instinct was to elongate the slot, glad to know that it worked. How do you like it with 7" headlight buckets? Are those on your Manxter in the picture? There are a lot more options in tha larger size, I haven't even found the manufacturer of the ...

Re: Manxter headlight aiming

Thanks Joe. Was modifying the adjustment slots worthwhile? If so, how did you do it? I drove mine tonight on a very dark street, and even with the high beams on, the lighted distance was only a couple of car lengths.

Manxter headlight aiming

I recently installed the new-in-box stock headlights that came with the kit on my Manxter 2+2, after removing some aftermarket units that were installed by the original owner. The sealed beam halogens actually provide a decent amount of light, but even with the lights tilted all the way back on the ...

Re: H4 upgrade for stock Manxter headlight buckets

Tom, that's good to know about the relays. My high beam switch is on a relay, but I'm assuming this kit is just for the power directly to the lights? I noticed that the sealed beams get brighter with engine revs, which makes me wonder if the current wiring is completely inadequate for even those lig...

H4 upgrade for stock Manxter headlight buckets

I just installed a set of original Manxter headlight buckets in my Manxter, which have the stock halogen sealed beam lights in them. They don't seem terribly bright, and I was wondering if anyone has upgraded them to aftermarket H4 units. If so, was it a worthwhile upgrade? It made a huge difference...

Source for rear deck lid strut

I'm having a hard time sourcing the short hydraulic strut that holds the rear deck lid open for engine access on a Manxter. Does anyone know of a supplier that keeps them in stock? My internet search has come up empty.

Thanks--Andy
