One thing I noticed is there seems to be several types of boots... Some are sorta pyramid shaped, and some (mine) are not. If your rear view mirror is glued to the windshield, you can carefully remove and reverse the glass too. It should slide out the bottom after you remove the bottom of the aluminium frame.
