Re: New to the Buggy Life

You're not going to hurt the value by changing it out to the Berrien Chassis. Maybe only an absolute purist wouldn't see how much better the Berrien chassis is over the stock shortened beetle chassis, and there have been zero issues with the fiberglass floors. Lots of folks use them. John Mickle and...

Re: The OFFICIAL 2018 Manx Club Wall Calendar!

We got our copy today. Love the cover! That is our '68 Manx (which Bruce called "Sweetheart" after he drove it) with Bruce at the wheel. The original picture was taken by Jennifer Carnevale at the 2016 MOTB event. With her permission, I had my photoshop expert friend John Kolakowski remov...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

It's been quite a while since I've posted, as it's been quite a busy year. My new job is great, as I work just about 5 months out of the year. However, I've had zero room to work, as our old house had a 2 car garage (housing Loretta, my tools, and a ton of parts. The driveway had a fairly steep incl...

Re: Time-line and Variety of Meyers Manx Nose Badges

The first foil backed sticker would have gone on the first Manx with a raised bump on the hood. That would have been the first floorpan Manx, which was made @ November 1965. Question on this: It appears the Bill's early squaretail picture shows a silver foil badge with black lettering. Am I just se...

Re: WTB Manx Valve Covers

I'd like to buy 2 sets. I heard from Paige over at Meyers' this week after inquiring, that a member of the club bought the original molds for these valve covers at the auction a while back. I'm sure another production run would sell out quickly. Who wouldn't buy a set of these if they were reasonab...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

We've finally got some progress on the build! I was very upset with the roll cage once I got it home. The "builder" of the cage is a very well known sand rail builder with some amazing skills, and was highly recommended. He and I have done a number of parts swapping, purchases, etc... over...

Re: RESORTER RESTORATION HELP

Glad to see yet another one coming back to life! Any photos or documentation of yours? I would love to see it. I'm in the middle of a Resorter restoration myself, although it's going to be custom, modeled after the one Bob Hunter did back about 8 years ago. Where are you located?

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

Yep. If you look closely where the bar goes behind the rear passenger seat you can see where it ties into the engine cage. The body is sandwiched between two plates that are tied together with four 1/2" grade 8 bolts... Thanks! Working with the guy that's going to modify mine to make it all wo...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

It's nice to finally have a rollbar. I went with the straight bars so I could use the stock roof. I had to put a 3" lift on the body so the straight bars would clear my head and give me a better view out the windshield. The front loop on my rollbar comes just to the top of the windshield also....

Re: Our Manx (non-restoration) budget build thread

Just looked at Lorettas history; top notch and beautiful finished product. Be a few years before our blue buggy looks that good. That's awesome that your gel-coat was that nice. Sure, the pictures may make it nicer than it really is, but that's a ton better than the paint, and my vote would be to k...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

I'm feeling a bit guilty as of late. Joe has made more progress on Scarlett than I have over the last few weeks. I've been neglecting any and all projects that were supposed to get done, and can blame a number of things on it, but it honestly comes down to lack of motivation. I am researching way to...
