I grew up in the N.W. suburbs of Chicago. I attended Embry-Riddle Aeronatical University in Daytona Beach in the late 70?s-early 80?s. After returning to Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach regularly for the past 20 years I decided it was time to move back for good. We moved to Florida about three years ...

Hardtop mounting
Hey Guys, Here are some pictures of how I mounted the hardtop after it took flight. This is the three piece hardtop. The top larger screw above the line of small screws is where the original link attached to the top. These were pulled out. I backed this area up with some 1/4" plywood and put ne...

A wild ride
I know there was an earlier thread about mounting the hard top, but I thought my weekend experience would be a good read. In the interest of being authentic, I mounted my new hardtop per the instructions. I had run the car at 70 MPH and had no problems. Saturday I was going to Daytona Beach and doin...

New Beetles are junk! I bought one in ?99. The problems are too numorous to mention here. After 25 trips to the dealer I finally gave up and sold it to CarMax. They gave me $4200.00 for it. I ran to the bank with the check! VW should be ashamed. If anyone is thinking of buying one make sure you buy ...

I scrounged a complete wiper assembly from a ?75 standard Beetle from a bone yard. I have a stock VW speedometer mounted in the center of the dash so it?s a tight fit. But, if you bend some of the light spades out of the way of the rack it all works well. It is tight though. I also think a pair on t...
