Fisher Buggies

David, I walked in to Fisher Buggies in Tampa for 49.99. If they don't ship, I will gladly pick up a set for you and ship it myself. I think you have been there from what I recall. I did grab the last set off the shelf, but I asked if they were a new product, and he said yes, and they are selling. T...

Measurements

The spindle to rear axle is almost perfect on the buggy. However, the spindle could be bent, or the rear plates may have been adjusted. I measured from the inside of the beam, to the inside of the rear torsion. It was 3/8 longer on the passenger side. I then measured from the front cross member to t...

Chassis Alignment (welded wrong)

Well, My really nice chassis that was shortened late last year has a problem. I am fitting new floor pans, and noticed the chassis is shortened about 3/8 inch more on the drivers side than on the passengers side! At first I figured I should just adjust the rear axle in the spring plate, but I just h...

914 Engine

A 1971 1700cc engine from a stock 914 porsche has 86hp from the factory. that year had slight pop up pistons, with around 8:1 compression. I had one of these engines with super low original miles, and all I did was add MSD distributor with 6al box, and a set of Weber 44IDF. I had poor low end at fir...

Air Cleaner Options

Have you seen a early VW bus, Karmann Ghia or Thing air cleaner tube? It has a 90 degree elbow at the carb and relocates the air cleaner to the side? Just a thought before you cut the body.

67 and earlier Bus Transmission

The gear reduction transmissions have the ring gear reversed. You may be able to find someone who has one for sale. Just remove the reduction gears and you will be set.

yep

On a type 1 it is below the generator, not the number on the stand, but lower on the case itself. H is a 1500, AE, or AH is a 1600 Just numbers would be a smaller engine.

Hard to answer

You can only reference the ID number on the case to find out what it was factory fresh. But as you well know about the "peoples car", people could easily increase displacement as a shade tree mechanic. To truly know, you will need to remove the heads to measure the cyclinder diameter, and ...

Loss

Definately will feel the loss of any manxclub member, and will keep him in our thoughts. And only a week to fight sounds unfair to me. I wear Nike Livestrong 10/2 cycling gear, and T-shirts in memory of a dear friend who lost their battle late last year. Now it will stand for another one. Would like...

What about rotating the tach until the bulb does not interfere for inspection? You would still have a tach, but it would be a little twisted. If they fail you due to a crooked tach, then they are low lifes. Good Luck
