Great Pix

Thanks for sharing Joe. I really enjoy the old pictures and hearing the memories involved.

Oil Experience

I used to run 30w all the time but now reading about most wear occuring on start up, I have been running 10w30 Castroil. My hot oil pressure is about the same as the 30w; ~20 at idle and 30-45psi. Is the multi-weight saving my motor over the straight 30w? As the oil pressure is fine I am not worried...

Things to consider

I used drop spindles on my Manx SR. They work fine but a couple points to consider. They generally add an inch or so to the width of the car. They are not adjustable, so unless you have an adjustable beam, you are stuck with the drop, which may be too much in a Manx. Also, be sure to put in at least...

Original vs Siggy Room for Webers

Thanks for the pics Mike. The Siggy bodies (at least mine) have a lot less room under the rear deck than the originals (I have had 2 originals so I can compare fairly). The license plate to generator/alternator spacing is another sign - the original had a stainless steel plate in the rear to mount t...

My Experience

I am familiar with the situation as I have been going through this myself. I can't speak of how manifolds/carbs will fit with your body; mine is a Siggy with even a little less rear clearance than the original Manx. I ordered the CB Performance offset manifold set. These ultimately fit but were a re...

Getting Ready For Buggy Weather

No enjoyment today, pouring rain here in St. Louis. I did get a chance to drive a little yesterday evening to try out the Siggy with the new dual 40IDF set up. Wow, they sure woke the ole Manx up! So far, as smooth as a baby's bottom, but will do a little more fine tuning. Looking forward to the fir...

Tank coating

After reviewing the Eastwood web site I am not sure that is where I sourced it from. I started out with a new tank but just used the coating without any prep. You plug the outlet (take out the screen and pick up, use tape or something), shake the can, pour it in, cover the inlet, slosh it around, tu...

Gas Tank Coatings

Bud, if you haven't put anything in the gas tank or replaced the hood yet, consider using a coating on the inside of the gas tank. As I remember, I got mine from Eastwood, but I believe there are other sources. Pour it in, slosh it around, and when it dries the inside of the tank feels like it is pl...

Sounds Cool

Bob, what kind of chassis is the CondorR? Is it the full tube frame version or the pan replacement? If I would have known about David's chassis before I built my Siggy I would have given them a HARD look before using a VW pan. Best regards,

What's Up

Winter weather has finally settled in here in the Midwest and East, so it is building season. What are you going to do to your buggy over the winter months (Ok for you lucky SoCal buggistas to reply as well)? I am going to replace the crappy 3 year old ball joints (one bad but going to replace them ...

Thanks Joe

Joe, I understand your frustration when you have to fiddle all of the time. The new Solex 34 PICT-3 smog carb I bought has been terrible to tune. I have tried every tuning trick with it. It has been reasonably dependable but to get it to run smooth throughout the RPM range it has to be adjusted to b...

Jerry - Thanks

Running through a relay has to be safer. Of course running new wires on an assembled buggy is a pain, but I like the idea of blocking off the fuel pump and getting rid of all the hoses on the front of the engine. The weather has changed and it is building/fix up season!

Hi Joe

I am looking at the low volume pump, supposedly 3.5 lbs pressure. This would eliminate a regulator between the stock pump and the T fittings to the carbs. I am concerned about the amp draw of the pump, deciding if a relay would be required. Thanks for the response, let us know how the NAPA pump work...

Rotary Fuel Pump Question

I am thinking about getting an electric rotary fuel pump from CB Performance to go with my dual Webers. Has anyone run one of these? Does it require a relay or does it pull so little it can be wired into a keyed fuse? Thanks!
