When you think about it the Meyers Manx is probably the only car in history that is accurately described by its name. Like the Manx cat the Meyers Manx is short, chubby, jacked up in the rear end, cute and it has no tail. Regardles of which other car you think about, it's name doesn't describe it. A...

Australia's only Manx SR is finally on the road

This afternoon I got the Manx SR going and then took it around the block a couple of times, It has a Subaru EJ20 engine and it goes really well. Bruce found it for me, I bought it from Greg Reid of Santee in 1998, and crated it in Jim Guthrie's garage. Because it has a modified body pan it is consid...

I would certainly recommend that you remove the old surface of the fibreglass down to a new surface to glass to using a sanding disc on an angle grinder. Protect yourself from the dust by wearing full length overalls, scarf, hat goggles, gloves and a proper dust mask or you will SUFFER from ichyskin...

Make sure that the top of the windows in the side curtains is as close to the top as possible as if it's not you may need to bend down to see out sideways. If you have a full length zipper to hold the window in the side curtain frame, make sure that the zipper opens from the back to the front. You c...

You need to be careful about glassing wood in as you could get stress concentrations at the ends of the piece of wood which could cause cracking there. You would need to shape the wood such that its ends are well away from stress points. Fibreglass is very strong and laying enough in the cracked are...

Seats from the Datsun 240Z and the 260Z are 19 inches cross at the back. They will fit low down and slide all the way back. I had a set in my buggy. They are high backed and fully adjustable. Check them out. They might solve your problem.

I got stung by a bee on the lobe of an ear when riding my Lambretta D125 scooter back from the beach. It got inside my helmet and I nearly let go and grabbed my head at speed. I had to grin and bear it until I got home, so that the stinger could be removed.

Mel and Dave. I'm glad that you are O.K. Appropos you light hearted suggestion that you pipe your excess water to us, we have a serious proposal here in West Aust. to pipe water from the Kimberleys in our Far North to the South West. That's the equivalent, in distance and engineering difficulty, of ...

English Floods

Mel. I hope that you and Dave have not been adversely affected by the floods. Strange as it may seem, we could do with a downpour like that here. We've been in what is effectively a drought for years now. Our rivers could do with a good flush out, the dams could do with over flowing, the ground wate...

Definitely number 1 for me. An original unmolested Manx in such excellent condition is a genuine rarity. It looks a lot like Old Red. I like it.

There is plenty of room for a radiator in the front of a buggy. I've seen them there. It can be done very discretely with a minimum of cutting needed for an intake vent at the front. Make sure that the pipes to and from the front are not side by side or the hot pipe to the radiator will heat up the ...
