Jon, The rollbar/cage looks great! Lots of work. Should be a great looking buggy when it's all done.

Make sure you get every last bit of molasses off the pedals before you install them...You don't need an Ant infestation problem in your buggy. :D

Heat! Heat them up with a torch and they will move. I have salvaged many sets of pedals that people have thrown away for that same reason. As my Father has always told me "Heat moves everything".

The VW kingpin bushings need to be reamed to .710 dia. ID. after they are pressed into the carrier. All the king pin bushings I have reamed have machined out very easily and should only take a couple minutes once you get the reamer. I know of a couple people that have purchased reamers from McMaster...

I put a bunch of layers of masking tape on the pods and on the edge of the body to keep from scratching and chipping the gelcoat. You can't be too careful.

Chris, Do you have any play between the pedal pushrod and the master cylinder? If the rod doesn't have freeplay, it will not allow the piston to return fully and the fluid transfer port will never open up to allow fluid to the wheel. What master cylinder are you using?

Dave, I'm not going to be of much help. I haven't worked on my Siggy in 18 months. I have the pods mounted but I don't remember having to trim the pod anywhere but along the bottom, to clear the Berrien frame. I can see where the pod may have to be trimmed to clear the upper roll bar mounting bolts....

New wheels at Kartek

For those of you that want a high end wheel that not too many people will have, Kartek just came out with these wheels. They are only available in 6" wide though. Image

Go to the following link (Compliments of Manx David) then click on the wiper button. They sell a rack and pinion operated wiper system that looks like the ticket for tight quarters. http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/

I'm always glad to hear about people actually driving their buggys. This past Summer, I and the group of buggiers I hang out with, made our way to several VW shows and we drove to all the shows. At all the shows we attended were another group of guys with buggys that towed their buggys to the shows....

[QUOTE="Lee"]seebeeBuggy, I don't stay in real camp sites. I like to camp where the neighbors are few and far between. Here's a view from the hill to the north of camp: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y62/Volksbuggen/Fremont%20to%20Goldstone%2010-1-05%20to%2010-2-05/100_4221.jpg It's not ...
