Re: The Iron Buggy Award

If you do decide to do it, do it, post up you did it. If you make it to a Manx Club event, you will get awarded a Tee Shirt, and a couple decals to put on your buggy.

If you do not make a Manx Club Event, let me know and I will ship you the Tee Shirt and decals.

No real coordination. It is done on the honor system. You do some documentation for your trip, post it up somewhere. On here. The Samba. Facebook Manx Club Page. Something to show what, when, where and how you did it.

Re: 2018 NORRA Mexican 1000

We will have a trailer with us for worst case. Driving the buggy from West Virginia to SoCal, then race, then drive back home would be a bad decision without a potential backup. We will also have a full truck, but you can strap your spare wheels and fuel to our trailer. It will be hitting all the su...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

The first part of the story sucks. And even though it is tied to your history with Scarlett, moving on with John and Lester's work will make it a much happier buggy to own in the long run. Looks good, and I am happy for you that you were able to "get it right". I am looking forward to seei...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

I had intended on priming and painting the top of the tanks with a gloss black. Then thinking about it, and remembering seeing several other nicely painted tanks pealing the paint off from where some fuel got spilled from over filling or a leaking gasket on the fuel tank sender, I thought best to ju...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

Scarlett's and the other two tanks have been internally cleaned, Damon Red Kote internally sealed and are curring. Since I spilled the Acetone on the outsides while cleaning the interior of the tanks, I covered each opening with tape and performed a quick sandblast of the exterior surfaces to get th...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

A little more work done, (well, A LOT of work done on two other tanks) on the fuel tank. Since I am building two buggies at basically the same time, I decided to make three fuel tanks at once so as to make one mess, sandblast once, coatings all at once and so forth. One of the other tanks was a very...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

Basic Fabrication work is done on the fuel tank. A sizable additional capacity has been added to the tank and the fuel tap is relocated to the lowest point and slightly dropped to get the as close to 99% of the tank's volume to the engine. It should make Scarlet a long hauling buggy for sure. Looks ...

Re: Scarlett Gets A Makeover!

You have me curious Joe.... How big a hammer is used to drive that orange nail??? Or is that a remnant of the John Henry exhibit you showed us? The John Henry Historical Society commissioned me to restore John Henry's original Tooth pick, so you got a sneak peak before the final reveal this summer ...
