Re: Steering column

Thanks Bud. I noticed in your pictures that it was not a straight shaft between the end of the Flaming River shaft and the steering box, thus you had 2 U joints and a short shaft in between. On mine, the original VW shaft on there now, is a straight shaft between the steering wheel and the rag joint...

Re: Steering column

Thanks very much Bud, this was incredibly helpful. So it looks like you had to create your own custom steering box coupler?

Thank you again for all the great info.

Steering column

Hi Guys, has anyone used an aftermarket steering column to replace the original VW one? I am trying to get a column that has the auto turn off for the blinkers and horn and tilt. I have looked at Flaming River but wanted to know how these would connect to the rag joint. Is there a conversion kit? An...

Front disc brake conversion

Hi folks, has anyone on here done a conversion from the standard drum brakes to disc brakes? If so, may I ask what kit you used or where did you get the parts? I have adjusted the current drum brakes in the front and bled the lines and the buggy stops OK when a quick stop is needed, but not great. A...

Re: New Manx owner - Boston area

Thanks for the great info, Buckley. I've checked out a bunch of youtube videos (very helpful) but I'll pick up the books that were mentioned.

Re: New to the Buggy Life

Thanks 5150Bossman. Re: New to the Buggy Life

Welcome, I am new to the buggy life as well. I bought mine about a month ago and have been having fun fixing up some of the mechanical things that the PO neglected.

Good luck with your new buggy

Front Bumper on Classic Manx

Hi guys, I am a newbie to the Manx world so I apologize if this is a dumb question. How do I know if I have a King Pin front end or a Ball Joint Axle front end? The pan is from a 1966 (or possibly 1967) VW. The reason for my question is that I bought a new chrome bumper from Manx to replace the bang...

New Manx owner - Boston area

Hi Folks, I just bought my first buggy and it is a real Manx. I had it authenticated by Winnie and she said it was produced prior to the company putting ID tags on them. I am having a blast with it so far and it gets lots of great comments and thumbs up from others on the road. If you guys know anyo...
