Re: Gecko Green Manxter #188 Frame Restoration

it seems that most members prefer to hang out on the Facebook page. The forum is really better equipped for discussing builds and etc but nobody seems to like it. The forum is not social enough. I will be starting a build thread on the forum this week. Keep posting on the forum and maybe we can brin...

Re: Gecko Green Manxter #188 Frame Restoration

Hello, I have Manxter #189. I am a little further along than you as I just bolted my body on the frame two days ago. Going to be a fun project.

Engine Tin--What's Required

What pieces of engine cooling tin can I do away with on my Manxter?
Obviously the curved rear piece is not required. What about the front piece that goes between the case and the body?
Also what about the down piece from the doghouse cooler?
Left and right under cylinder rear deflectors?

Re: Front Springs?

By removing the KYB gas shocks from the front I was able to get the thing to bounce normally. However, it is still riding high though.
What would happen if I backed out the center hex screw on one of the beams releasing the spring leaves? :?: :?: :?:

Re: Front Springs?

OK... Jacked up the front end and the steering is a little tight it did not bind at all. the steering box is a new TRW unit, thanks PO. I looked at the shocks and they seemed to be at full extension. I removed them, KYB Gas shocks, New. I tried the bounce test and I can get it to move several inches...

Re: Front Springs?

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try the steering experiment. I will also check the orientation of the ball joints as I note they are supposed to have notches pointing front and back.

Re: Manxter build questions

Jon, Thanks a lot. I'm used to the Corvette forum, and the Montana owners forum both of which are very active.
I will keep posting here and maybe it will liven up.

Your comments are appreciated. I am just ordering the body next week. I will start a thread on the build soon.

Re: Front Springs?

I am having the same problem with my front axle. I have a '69 ball joint axle that was all rebuilt by the PO. Urethane bushings and he also replaced the spring packs. I know that because he gave me all the old parts from when he did the work. The problem is the torsion arms are pointing down when si...

Re: Manxter build questions

Pajero, Thanks for the reply. I don't see much activity on this forum. Mostly old threads. I wonder if anyone else is just beginning a build.

Manxter build questions

Greetings, I am in the process of building my Manxter 2+2. Using a '69 pan, all rebuilt with all new bearings, bushings, disc brakes all around, dropped spindles. At this time I am going to use the attached 1600 DP vintage '73 that came with the car. Maybe buy a 1776 later. Sold the old bug body las...
