After I got my buggy on the road (1998), I went to my VW dealer to buy some (more) parts. When I parked the car, one of the saleman came running over and asked "can I help you?" I pointed to a New Beetle and said "I'm looking for a kit to turn one of these into a dune buggy". Bei...

No. The Manxter has a "lower dash tub" that seals that area off. Although, some of the heat could come through the area where the gauges and glove box are. But, knowing Olli, he has a plan for that. When Bruce made the street Manxter with the Subi motor, he put the radiators in the sidepod...

I used one back in the late 60's on my 63 bug. It did help. If you can get some negative camber to start with, it will feel even better. The only way to get a swing axle to handle is get some negative camber and reduce the travel from there. Wide tires also help, they "tuck under" less Tom

I had a set of Hunsaker poly seats mounted to cut down VW sliders. 2 flat sheet metal bars were added across the VW tubing to mount the seat on. Worked well. It was like sitting on the floor. I still have them if you are interested. Tom

Kathleen and I got to drive the red street Subi Manxter after Lone Pine. :driving: Well, somebody had to set the electonic VDO speedometer, and we knew how to do it. Life is good! It had "adaquate" power, and was not too loud. It was quieter than my car with the Kymco set-up with th...

Talldude - There is much more to putting a Manxter together than the old style cars. If you have questions, feel free to post them here. Also, open up the old posts, and read them, many of your possible questions have probably already been answered. But, like I said , any of us would be glad to offe...

Olli - don't blame Kathleen & I about your engine change, blame Bruce Meyers for making it look and work so good! Glad to hear you will be making progress on your car soon. Tom

#60, another milestone in the # of Manxters produced. The wheels look like the old Jackman style. Mike at ECR will probably know what kind they are, because he has worked on that car that you referenced (#2) lately. You will have to paint them to match, they probably come in chrome or white only. Pl...

I hope that price includes all the parts needed to properly mount the Manxter rear bumper. You need a motor mount (mxtr-123-B type 1 or mxtr-122A type II), 2 upper rear bumper brackets (left mxtr-122 -B, right mxtr-122-A), 2 lower rear bumper brackets (mxtr-120), 2 rear bumpers (left mxtr-118 & ...

Meyers Manx Sighting

Hot Rod Magazine, January 2006, page 24 & 25. B & W picture of Bruce jumping a Manx over a "dune" similar to the August 1966 cover shot. Also a nice colum of text. They remember their past! Tom

You're welcome (again). Any of the buggies that could have pulled you out, had the power to make it up the hill (and continued on) where 6 of us turned around. If we lived out there (CA), we would need 3 buggies, the 2 we have now plus a off road capable version. But, we have no where to off road he...

You're welcome. John Denmat and I were the ones who got you that cheap (not) ride out on the flatbad. I will just say that the "French buggy" was lacking some things to survive the extreme run. We probably should have been on the intermeadiate run. But what fun would it be if we didn't try...

A lot of people (at least I did) put 1" square tubing in the "pressed steel" area on the outside of the pan you are referring to. I also have a 6 point cage to the car is very stiff. Tom
